The MPC 1000 uses standard 16 bit PCM wav files as its native sample format, but also reads the old MPC SND format, as found on Akai samplers such as the MPC3000 and MPC2000XL. It also reads older MPC program files, although as the operating system features many new features and an updated structure, only basic parameters are transferred over, such as pad assignment, tuning and decay settings; however, MPC1000 programs will not load into older MPCs.
